Wests Tigers CEO Shaun Mielekamp clarifies Leichhardt ticket prices amid confusion

Wests Tigers interim CEO Shaun Mielekamp has moved to clarify ticket pricing for the Club’s Round 2 match at Leichhardt Oval, confirming general admission tickets will cost $40 for adults, following confusion sparked by the release of membership pricing.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Mielekamp says the misunderstanding arose after Inner West Mayor Darcy Byrne publicly referenced a $75 membership price ahead of tickets officially going on sale.

“It’s $40,” Mielekamp says. “All that happened was our wonderful Mayor Darcy Byrne had sent a membership price and was focused on the membership price because tickets go on sale next Monday, 9 February.”

“At the moment you can buy a membership for $75, which has caused some confusion. We’ve got to own that,” he says.

Mielekamp confirms general admission tickets will be priced at $40 for adults and $27 for children, with members receiving a further discount once tickets are released.

“Tickets go on sale on Monday – $40 for adults, $27 for kids. If you’re a member, you’ll get a further discount,” he says.

He also confirms the pricing structure is identical to last season, saying the Club deliberately opted for consistency after strong crowd numbers in 2025.

“We’ve replicated last year,” Mielekamp says. “Last year’s numbers were very good. We had plenty of sold-out matches and felt we had a really good balance.”

Addressing speculation around upgrades at Leichhardt Oval, Mielekamp says there have been no changes to the redevelopment timeline, with major works now slated for 2027.

“The work will go to public display, but it’s all intended for 2027,” he says. “Leichhardt will look to get redeveloped then. It’s all very much on track.”

The Tigers will play three matches at Leichhardt this season, alongside four games at Campbelltown Sports Stadium, four at CommBank Stadium and one at Suncorp Stadium during Magic Round.

Mielekamp says the venue mix is part of a longer-term strategy as both Leichhardt and Campbelltown prepare for future upgrades, including a $70 million redevelopment of Campbelltown Stadium, largely funded by Campbelltown Council.

Looking beyond ticketing and infrastructure, he says the Club is focused on stability both on and off the field, noting improved board cohesion and stronger engagement with members.

“There’s been a real collective strength mentality,” Mielekamp says. “I’ve been working hard to engage with as many members as I can to make sure their voice is heard at board level.”

And as for any major marketing stunts in 2026?

“The big razzle-dazzle is sticking to the plan,” he says. “Let’s just make sure we win some footy games.”

As Mielekamp sums it up simply: “Forty bucks.”
